AGM

The annual general meeting of the club was held on Monday the 18th of January 2010, in the staff room (formally the refectory) at 7.30pm, the highlight of the evening was the appointment of Lindsay Stewart as the new president of the club along with Graeme Paul and Hector Hawley Groat becoming vice presidents. Traditionally the informal part of the evening continued in The Doctors afterwords, when the new vice presidents stood the members a drink.

Spring Meeting

This year took place at Dunbar on Sunday the 25th of April. As usual there were two rounds with the morning round the medal and qualifying for the A&B championships and the afternoon featured the always popular pink ball team game involving the infamous pink "lady girl" balls. Despite a damp start the rain soon abated and a fine time was had by all, congratulations must go to John "Archie" Archibald and the green staff for getting the course in such good condition following the floods and high tides at the start of the month.

Social Golfing Get Togethers

The first midweek social outing this year was held at the Burgess on Thursday 24th of June and the second at the Hirsel (Coldstream) on Thursday 26th of August. The format is a round in the morning followed by lunch in the clubhouse, with the day being hosted by members at the club thus enabling guest rates to apply on the day. We would like to encourage as many members as possible to come along and anyone who would like to host an event at their club next year please let Graeme Boon know.

Summer Meeting

Muirfield was this year tamed by Colin Rae who produced a gross 73 to win the scratch, with Dave Campbell winning the handicap closely followed by Graham Leslie who was runner up. The Ronnie Middleton trophy was won by Peter Hill scoring 41 points, last year's winner Neil Boyd was runner up. The weather was kind and both groups met in the main clubhouse at Gullane for a meal followed by the prizegiving when president Lindsay Stewart did the honours.

Musselburgh Evening

Friday the 11th of June was the date this year for the fifth summer challenge over the Old Links at Musselburgh Racecourse where a limit of six clubs and the use of old hickory clubs at certain holes added to the fun, guests, partners and pets all enjoyed the sunny evening organised by Stewart Barnes, Douglas Livingstone's 5 points on the 3rd hole led him to a clear victory. The prizes were presented after a meal in the clubhouse.

Autumn Outing

This year we are returned to Kinross, where a select group enjoyed a great day out. The medal round in the morning was won by Dave Campbell with a net 73, which also secured the handicap. The afternoon was a keenly contested and physically punishing pink ball team competition, which after a steward's enquiry over a pink ball found in a murky pond, was deemed to have been a great success. Fine weather and an excellent meal rounde off a tiring bt enjoyable day. Next year is of course a not to be missed tour, more details soon.

Winter Greensomes

Last year's Greensomes were completed five months earlier than 2008/9, despite the bad weather, Alasdair Slessor and Duggie Walker were overcome by John Ellis and Ken Ireland, who will collect the trophy at the dinner. Entries for this year's competitions can be downloaded, a mere £3.00

Annual Dinner

The Annual Dinner will be held at Goldenacre on Friday 8th October, the captain has secured the services of Sandy Strang as the principal speaker, Sandy has spoken at Goldenacre for the cricket club and the rugby club over the years and we will be gauranteed some fun. Last year over 100 members and guests enjoyed a great night as well as seeing the splendid Grafton Morrisch trophy back in Heriot hands. Don't forget there is a 10% discount on the cost for anyone taking a table of ten at £300. Tickets are normally £33.
